Early detection of breast disease is one of the most important tasks of modern medicine.
BreastScan method is a safe, comfortable and non-invasive screening technology. It can help determine current breast health by measuring temperature changes in the breast. It uses a special camera that picks up ‘hot spots’ that may be caused by increased blood flow to cancerous tissue, and therefore has the potential to detect tumours at an early stage. Although available to women of any age, the technique can be particularly suitable for women under 50, and complements other screening technologies such as ultrasound or mammogram.
BreastScan method measures the change in temperature at a depth of breast tissue, and it is a unique device with this characteristic (all other measure surface temperature only). In this project has been actively engaged MO-GY, Slovenian company, since 1996 and received two of the highest awards; global award in the field of medicine (Geneva, 2005) and Nuerenberg, 2006). Results from clinical trials show a significantly higher accuracy of early detection of breast disease (about 90%), and even over 95% accuracy in combination with mammography.
The sad fact is that with prevention through mammography only about 15% of breast cancer is detected (85 % detected by self-overview) and that on average every fourth patient with the breast cancer diagnosis dies. Unimaginable is a fact that for women younger than 40 years there is no preventive screening method (except for the self-overview). All this certainly speaks of the need to modernize the diagnostic.
The advantages of the method compared to mammography
Mammography is currently the world’s most widely used method of preventive breast examination, but has three major weaknesses, which can be supplemented with BreastScan:
1. Disease “sees” only the formation of the tumor. On average, mammography diagnose the tumor size at 1.4 inches, such as occurs 5 to 7 years after the start of illness;
2. For younger women (until menopause) mammography is poorly transparent and is not recommended;
3. Often examination with mammography is not recommended due to radiation, so imaging can be repeated in fewer intervals.
Advantages of the BreastScan method are:

The basic fact is that breast cancer as the disease begins to develop for 3 to 5 years before there is a tumor that is visible. During that time mammography shows practically false negative reports, because mammography “sees” a disease when the tumor is already visible.
Diagnostic method suitable for younger women
Younger women (under 40 years) rarely get a breast cancer diagnosis, but it is usually much more dangerous and progressive.
The method is non-invasive
Measuring sensor for Breastscan method only works as a receiver, so there is no pain or radiation. Regular reviews are possible.
The financial aspect
Equipment of the Breastscan method costs about ten time less than mammography equipment.
Principles of the BreastScan method
Temperature is one of the main indicators of the health status of the human organism. In most cases, the disease occurs related with too high or too low metabolic activity of organs in depth, which informs us that it is necessary to examine it in more detail.
In the majority of breast diseases tissue responds to the change of temperature. The particularly sensitive sensor of BreastScan can measure the temperature at a depth of breast tissue, without interfering with the body. The temperature is also measured at nine different locations on each breast, compared to symmetric points of both breasts. The data are computer processed and the results graphically designed as a comparative chart
Measurement results are divided into three groups.
In the first group there are patients, the results of which were normal, such is over 70 % and a subscription to a check-up within 1-2 years.
The second group are the patients, who have a certain deviation of the temperature. For such is advised to check-up in 3 to 8 months. If the deviation of the inspection is equal or greater, they are classified as category 3.
In the third group are patient with great temperature variations. These patients are sent to additional specialist examinations.
